During the quieter times of the Covid pandemic, my husband and I made the decision to acquire a recreational property outside of town, envisioning it as a weekend retreat for family and friends. As our plans evolved, we chose to build a home on this property, making New Germany our permanent residence.
A significant moment in our journey occurred when my daughter shared a YouTube video of a donkey calling for its owner. Captivated, I began following donkeys on social media and conducting research on local donkey breeders. This led to the decision to acquire two miniature donkeys, for which I placed a deposit with a breeder in Denison, Minnesota.
Our visit to the breeder was transformative. Surrounded by approximately 30 donkeys, including newborns playfully interacting with their mothers, I was overwhelmed with joy. The experience was so delightful that my husband and I ended up committing to seven donkeys instead of the initial two. It was an easy decision in the end.
Since then, our donkeys have made themselves at home, and we have since expanded our family with Miniature and Mammoth Donkeys. Our commitment to their well-being remains unwavering, as we strive to provide them with the best care, conditions, and a nurturing environment.
We hope you enjoy experiencing these wonderful animals as much as we do.
